Around her head a halo with rays that gradually go from light to dark and cover the entire background. Signed 'Anthony Wierix fecit'. Titled 'Respexit Humilitatem Ancille Sve' (He looked at the humility of hids made servant. 'This second state with the publishers address of Visscher replacing that of Hoeswinkel is titled by Marie Mauquoy-Hendrickx: La Vierge en adoration lors de la conception. Probably based on the verses of Luc.I.

This is an early second state on five, the first state before the text is extremely rare, in the third state the mantle of Christ is extended and covers his knees. A very fine engraved piece from the former collection of Friederich August, King of Saxony. Part of his collection stamp in bottom left corner.
