Ungerahmt wie in der Katalogabbildung: 17 x 21,4 cm. In Metallrahmen (dort 15,9 x 21,4 cm). Eine Ansicht der Schlacht von Aspern, signiert und datiert "den 22. May/1809/Wigand f." war Kat.-Nr. 7 der Ausstellung Balthasar Wigand (1770 - 1846). Bilder und Kunsthandwerk aus Empire und Biedermeier, Historisches Museum der Stadt Wien, 1977 (ohne Abbildung). Die Schlacht bei Aspern (im französischen Sprachgebrauch bataille d'Essling genannt) gilt als die erste bedeutende Niederlage der Napoleonischen Truppen auf dem Schlachtfeld. Euphorisch - und vorschnell - wurde Erzherzog Carl durch Heinrich von Kleist als "Überwinder des Unüberwindlichen" gefeiert. Doch wenige Wochen später unterlag Erzherzog Carl den Franzosen in der Schlacht von Wagram und schloss mit Napoleon eigenmächtig den Waffenstillstand von Znaim - was seine Entlassung und das Ende seiner militärischen Karriere bedeutete. - Provenienz: Galerie Fischer, Luzern, Auktion 372 H vom 15.             Werkstatt. Vier Miniaturen mit Wiener Veduten betitelt "Das neue Burgthor", "Hadersdorf", "Die Karlskirche", "Spinnerin am Kreuz". Die Miniaturen Aquarell und Gouache auf Papier, je 6 x 7,6 cm (queroval). Gerahmt in markasitartigem, poliertem Stahl, auf vier querrechteckigen Kästchendeckeln aus lackiertem hellem Holz in Stahlmonturen, die Innenseiten der Kästchen zweigeteilt, die vier Kästchen in je zwei vertikalen Fächern ebenfalls in Stahlbordüren, diese wiederum in querrechteckigem stahlmontiertem Holztablett mit Stahlhenkeln links und rechts. Maximale Ausdehnung des Objekts ohne Henkel: 19,4 x 23,7 cm Die Wigand Werkstatt vertrieb ihre Produkte häufig über das 1770 gegründete Wiener "Galanteriewaren"-Geschäft von Nicholas Rozet; in diesem Falle scheint an einen anderen Wiener Händler geliefert worden zu sein: "Etienne Syre, marchand bijoutier, clincailler & commissionaire, à la ville de Carlsbad à Vienne", wie ein gedrucktes altes Etikett auf der Unterseite angibt. Das vorliegende Objekt war höchstwahrscheinlich für Spieljetons, die meist aus gravierten Perlmuttplaketten bestanden, konzipiert.
