Henry Ames Wight Art for Sale at Auction

Henry Ames Wight was an artist active during the 1920's and could be considered one of the earliest Surrealist artists. He held several exhibitions of his work during this time including an Exhibition of Monotypes in Color at The Ehrich Galleries from February 17 to March 3, 1923 in New York which was also held at the Worcester Art Museum. Mr. Raymond Henniker-Heaton wrote a prologue for the Exhibition at the Worcester Art Museum where he noted Wight's first works as manifesting itself in landscapes and small figures conceived in a spirit of romanticism while his later monotypes are more emotional, more abstract and more original.
