Wilder fec." below the image, titled below centre. Date: 1835 Description: The sacrament house of St Lawrence in St Lawrence's Church in Nuremberg was created between 1493 and 1496 and is a tabernacle around 20 metres high and 3.40 metres wide. The sculptor, Adam Kraft, used sandstone from quarries to create the tabernacle. The etching by G.Ch. Wilder, printed by M.M. Mayer in 1835, depicts figures dressed almost like a snapshot of contemporary middle-class citizens in the 19th century.     Georg Christian Wilder (German, 1797-1855) antique etching measures 17.25 in. x 9.5 in. Top right corner chipped. Unframed, loose and not glued or mounted. Provenance: Estate collection of William Greenbaum, Gloucester, Massachusetts, Proprietor of William Greenbaum Fine Prints. If lot is absent of a condition report one may be requested via email. Condition report is provided as an opinion only and is no guarantee as condition can be subjective. Buyer must view photographs or scans to assist in determining condition and ask further questions if so desired. Our in-house shipping department will gladly pack and ship any item that fits into a 14x14x14 inch or 30x5x24 inch or equivalent or smaller box/folio if it is not fragile or over 25lbs. Date: 1835 Description: The St. Lawrence Sacrament House in the St. Lawrence Church in Nuremberg was built between 1493 and 1496 and is a tabernacle about 20 m high and 3.40 m wide. The sculptor Adam Kraft used sandstone from quarries in several tiers, one above the other. The etching by G.Ch. Wilder, printed by M.M. Mayer in 1835, shows figures dressed almost as if in a snapshot, like contemporary citizens from the upper middle class in the 19th century. The drawing reveals an artist who has a good spatial imagination and knows how to put the architectural logic of the building on paper. Even modern photographs of the impressive late Romanesque crypt hardly succeed in convincingly depicting the cramped spatial conditions from this angle. Diese Zeichnung diente als Vorlage für die Tafel 20 der Publikation von Franz Tschischka "Der Stephansdom in Wien und seine alten Denkmale der Kunst" (Wien, 1832). Beigegeben von demselben eine signierte Zeichnung der Rundfenster in der Eligiuskapelle, der Rundfenster in den Heidentürmern sowie mit Details weiterer gotischer Fenster im Stephansdom, datiert 1826.
