She was employed by Wilding to paint both backdrops and produce painted colour versions of a number of Wilding’s portraits. An example of this photograph with a different colour backdrop is held at the National Portrait Gallery (NPG x34852).

Vintage silver gelatin print, on Wilding's combination tissue and card mount, image/sheet size 200 x 150mm, card size 348 x 254mm, signed by the photographer in pencil on tissue lower left margin, with Wilding's Camera Portraits Old Bond Street studio stamp card verso. Framed, frame size 440 x 340mm. The subject of this vintage print may be one of the "three graces" photographed by Wilding in her 1923 image Frieze, taken to promote The Midnight Follies, a new cabaret at the London Metropole. Though the subject of the present print wears a headscarf, the top edge of her strapless outfit closely resembles the delicate dresses worn by the three women in Frieze, each of whom also had a waved bob hairstyle.

T.L.S., Dorothy Wilding, (in bold pencil), one page, 4to, Grosvenor Square, London, 18th May 1960, to Ann Robinson, on Wilding's attractive printed stationery. Wilding apologises for the delay in replying to her correspondent's letter, owing to having received many applications, and continues 'Don't worry about not having had any previous training; that is what you pay for in our fees, which are not quite settled yet, but may be 150 gns. a term. If you would like to take up this training, please let me know as soon as possible so that we can arrange an interview convenient to both'. Letters signed by Wilding are surprisingly scarce. Some traces of former mounting to the upper edge of the verso, otherwise VG

This resulted in Wilding becoming the first female photographer to receive a Royal Warrant.
