H. Peters was director of the Zoological Garden in Berlin from 1857 to 1869 and was responsible for the first description of 200 reptile species. - Foxing, margins browned, some plates loose, beautifully preserved lithographs in rich colors. Es beginnt mit der Erklärung geometrischer Begriffe, die durch einschlägige Darstellungen veranschaulicht werden. Very rare elementary mathematical treatise for military officers and other laymen in the mathematical sciences with practical exercises on the application of mathematics. It begins with an explanation of geometric concepts, which are illustrated with relevant diagrams. This is followed by numerous arithmetical exercises designed to help the reader better understand what has been discussed through practical exercises. - A few pages with a small restored loss in the upper right corner. Paper somewhat browned and partly with small marginal defects. A few leaves with small ink hole. Copper title with annotations in manuscript outside the image. Well preserved.

Landschaft in Österreich under der Enns, Herrn verordnetten und seiner Frawen Gemahl, der wol geborenen Frawen, Frawen Esther Pernstorfferin ein geborene des Enlncklin Freyherrin seeligen beeder eheleiblicher Sohn ist in Christo seeliglich verschiden zu Wien den 5. Febr. im 1617. seines Alters 22. Jahr. Gott verleihe ihm sambt allen Christglaubigen ein frohliche Auferstehung zum ewigen Leben. Amen." A beautiful flintlock sporting gun from the property of King Friedrich Wilhelm II

dating: last quarter of the 18th Century provenance: Prussia, Round, smoothbore, bluing (refreshed finishing), two-stage, 16 mm cal. barrel with rings at the girdle, gilded marks of the Naples’ Royal Manufacture at the base, silver swallowtailed foresight; engraved and gilded tang marked “44”. Lock with a slightly round plate, decorated with a quiver, arrows and floral motifs in gold and silver - perfect Tula style. Wooden half-stock majestically sculpted, and featuring fine floral carvings, vine shoots on the outside of the butt. Extraordinary mercury-gilded bronze mounts, partly fretworked and plated with dark-blued iron plates, long trigger guard with bas-relieved birds on a granulated background, counter-plate consisting of bands of leaves and garlands, butt-plate with trophy, escutcheon with the monogram 'FW' under an iron decorative element among trophies, mercury-gilded bronze chain and dragon. Dark horn muzzle, gilded bronze barrel bracket and ramrod holder decorated en suite. Ramrod with missing part. A very classy and elegant weapon. In the Musée de l'Armée in Paris, there is a flintlock gun dating back to 1790 circa (Nr. M 636), with the same monogram, described as a gift from King Frederick William II of Prussia to General Clarke, Duke of Feltre and Governor of Berlin during the Napoleonic occupation. This rifle features the number 43 on the tang. Our gun is marked '44.' King Friedrich Wilhelm II (1786-1797). These guns were originally kept in the armory of the famous 'Residenz' of Sanssouci in Potsdam, near Berlin, and probably some of them were taken by the French occupiers as war booty. length 145 cm.

A PAIR OF PARCIAL GILT SILVER SALT CELLARS WITH MONOGRAM WILHELM VON HESSEN-KASSEL Kassel, ca. 1760 7,5 x 5,5 x 4 cm Silver, cast, partially gilded. Bellied, oval bowls on stand. Crowned monogram "WL" of Landgrave Wilhelm von Hessen-Kassel zu Rumpenheim (1787-1867). Mark for 15-silver, Master Pierre Baucair (b. 1696, Master 1721, d. 1775). Ca. 290g. Min. dented. Gerrit Boettcher Collection. On loan to the Museum Kassel in 1998 for the exhibition "Kasseler Silber". Lit. Neuhaus/Richter, MZ 80c, FZ 69. Wilhelm von Hessen (1787-1867) was a titular landgrave of Hessen-Kassel from the Hessen-Rumpenheim side line and governor of Copenhagen. He inherited the title of Landgrave from his father Frederick III of Hesse-Kassel-Rumpenheim (1747-1837) in 1837. He was married to Princess Charlotte of Denmark (1789-1864), daughter of the Danish Hereditary Prince Friedrich. Pierre Baucair (1696-1775) and his son Isaak Baucair (1753-1793) produced a number of silver objects for the court of the Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel in their joint workshop. Among them were several silver coffee pots, lidded bowls and other silver utensils for Landgrave Wilhelm VIII, the great-grandfather of Landgrave Wilhelm of Hesse-Kassel zu Rumpenheim, who was later monogrammed here.

A MONUMENTAL SOVIET-ERA CARVED WOODEN SCULPTURE - GDR & WILHELM PIECK INTEREST A MONUMENTAL SOVIET-ERA CARVED WOODEN SCULPTURE - GDR & WILHELM PIECK INTEREST, the figural group, referred to within the provenance documentation as being titled 'Soldat, Arbeiter, Bauerin' (Soldier, Worker, Farmer), depicting a mother and father presumably sending their son off to the front. 67cm tall x 50cm wide. Provenance: Believed to be a gift from USSR to Wilhelm Pieck of the GDR, the sculpture was acquired by the current owner from Galerie fur Kunst und Geschichte - Bad Oldesloe, Germany in 1997 and is accompanied by both the original sale correspondence, as well as a faxed correspondence from the previous owner; Karl-Heinz Kaiser (Former DDR official), stating that the sculpture once stood in the office reception of former GDR President Wilhelm Pieck.

Lehnert & Landrock was a photographic studio run by Rudolf Franz Lehnert and Ernst Heinrich Landrock active in Tunisia and Egypt in the early 20th century noted for producing Orientalist images. Rudolf Franz Lehnert and Ernst Heinrich Landrock produced images of North African people, landscapes, and architecture for a primarily European audience. These images were mainly distributed in monographs, though also as original prints, photogravures, and lithographic postcards.
