Unten links monogrammiert, im Rand wohl eigenh. in Bleistift betitelt. (1913). Bei der Zeichnung handelt es sich um die originale Vorlage für die Illustration auf der Seite 136 in der Wochenschrift "Die Muskete" vom 23. Januar 1913 mit der Unterschrift "Gleichgewicht von das Europa wird bald da sein! As a painter and illustrator, he mainly worked on historical themes and militaria. 1898-1902, studied painting at the Dresden Art Academy with L. Nieper; 1902/1903 at the Karlsruhe Art Academy with E. Schruth and briefly in Leipzig with M. Seliger. Specialist knowledge of military uniforms. There is a fresco in an arcade hall of the Military History Museum in Vienna. Living in Vienna since 1903, illustrator for the magazines “Der Scherer” (Tyrol), “Die Muskete” and “Der Faun”. In 1905, he was represented in the Hagenbund for the first time, 1907-1910 member of the Hagenbund. 1913-1923 head of set design at Burgtheater, Vienna; 1923-1938 artistic advisory board for Österreichischer Bundesverlag, from March 1938 its provisional director (now Österreichischer Landesverlag). Created numerous book illustrations for history books and young adult novels. From 1941, member of Wiener Künstlerhaus. From 1942, war painter. Works e.g. Albertina, Vienna Museum, Military History Museum Vienna. PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price consists of the highest bid plus the buyer's premium, sales tax and, if applicable, the fee of artists resale rights.
