Edith Lake Wilkinson was born in Wheeling, West Virginia and studied at the Arts Students League in New York with Kenyon Cox and with William Merritt Chase and later with Kenneth Hayes Miller. She also studied with Arthur Wesley Dow in Ipswich, Massachusetts, and with Charles W. Hawthorne in Provincetown, Massachusetts, and was active with the Provincetown Art Colony from the mid-teens to 1923 and made her first white line print with the Provincetown Printers in 1914. She exhibited at the Philadelphia Water Color Club in 1920, the Delgado Museum of Art in New Orleans, and the Arts Club of Chicago in 1921, and at the Brown-Robertson Gallery in New York City. Her life and artwork was the subject of the Emmy nominated HBO documentary, "Packed in a Trunk: The Lost Art of Edith Lake Wilkinson."

CONDITION: Good, some toning and light dampstaining. This rare woodblock print was one of several by Wilkinson that traveled the United States in 1921 as part of a Provincetown wood block artists exhibition that included stops at Arts Club of Chicago, Brown-Robertson Gallery in New York City, and The Delgado Museum of Art in New Orleans.
