        AARON WILLARD (ROXBURY, MASSACHUSETTS, 1757-1844) ATTRIBUTED, MAHOGANY SHELF CLOCK, brass 8-day weight-driven time-only movement, the mahogany and mahogany-veneered case featuring a central plinth with brass eagle finial between a scrolled broken arch, the dish-dial face shows through a reverse painted and verre-eglomise glass panel featuring a central medallion reading "Aaron Willard / BOSTON"; the lower case featuring a reverse-painted glass tablet depicting Cronos on an island next to a globe and other classical elements, both glass tablets feature an oak-leaf and acorn design, the whole supported by French feet. Retains key, pendulum, weight, and possibly original finial. Early 19th century. 37" HOA, 12 3/4" WOA, 5 3/4" DOA.

Mahogany case with original finish. 36" high x 13" wide x 6 1/2" deep. Unknown working condition. Minor loss to fretwork. Comes with 1933 work receipt note mentioning the weight cord was replaced.

The molded arched hood with pierced fretwork and brass ball finials above the string inlaid glazed tombstone door flanked by reeded brass stop-fluted columns opening to a painted sheet iron arched dial showing phases of the moon and a ship flying an American flag above a chapter ring with seconds indicator and calendar aperture with floral painted spandrels centering 'Aaron Willard', the back of the dial inscribed by the dial painter 'Willm Prescott No 2' in white paint, with an eight-day weight-driven brass movement, molded tombstone waist door flanked by brass-mounted reeded and stop-fluted quarter columns, on base with inlaid fan and carved ogee bracket feet, retains an Aaron Willard, Roxbury, label engraved by Paul Revere, Jr., on interior, (old refinish, finials original, fretwork replaced, one brass capital mount missing, patched shrinkage crack in the base, losses to Revere label), 43cm wide, 233cm high (17in wide, 92in high).

        Early American solid mahogany tall clock signed Aaron Willard, original floral painted metal dial signed in 3 places (on back plate & movement) by Spencer Nolen who worked at the Willard clock compound in Roxbury MA about 1805. The interior paper shop label is an authentic, identified Paul Revere print. Clock is all original (except for nicely refinished case) and in good working order. Strikes on the hour. Feet, bonnet fretwork & glass, brass hardware also original. Has Boston can weights, original winding key (rare), door key and pendulum. Slight warp to door but will still lock. Size: 98 in tall x 19.5 wide x 9.5 deep.

        Aaron Willard Jr., Boston, a good Massachusetts shelf clock, pine and mahogany case with figured mahogany veneers, the convex molded base on cast paw feet, with turned wooden feet at the back, below a bullnose molded frame with reverse painted tablet featuring a landscape with young girl and her lamb beneath a large tree, and a small house in the background, the stylized leaf border done in varicolored bronze powders, the transition between upper and lower case with thumb molding below a cavetto and astragal, the door also with bullnose molded frame, and reverse painted glass, the lower portion with bronze powder seashells and foliage surrounding a gilt bordered oval reserve in red, and "Aaron Willard Boston" in gold script below the dial surround, the corners with gilt lyres backed in red, and bronze foliage backed in green, bullnose molded top with broken arch crest and central plinth with eagle finial, roman numeral, white painted concave dial with red painted wooden mask, barbed hands, and 8 day timepiece movement with four wheel train, recoil escapement, cast iron weight, and brass clad pendulum bob with steel rod.
