Gerald Williams is a painter whose practice lies within the realms of social justice and the visual expression of the Black Arts movement. As a founding member AfriCOBRA, Williams along with his partners, turned their large scale paintings into prints to deliver their messages of social reform, civil rights, and cultural expression to be viewed by a broad audience. During his travels to Nairobi, Kenya, the following artworks he created were influenced by the rich colors of African textiles and the architecture of a post-colonial African metropolis. The work seeks to find an underlying link between a common humanity and an international aesthetic.
