Justene Williams was born in Sydney and studied at the University of Western Sydney. She received further art education at the Sydney College of the Arts and completed a Master of Visual Arts in 2006. William's early works are focused on photography. Since 2005, the artist continuously plays with video art as a performative medium. The artist lives and works in Sydney.
Justene Williams is an internationally renowned artist and has already had a number of museum presentations, as such at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia in 2011
Justene Williams started her artistic career with photographic works. She utilized the ad hoc nature of disposable cameras and visited sites of public recreation such as shopping centers, car shows or strip clubs, where she captured blurred moments of the happenings. Her pictures therefore channel the energies of popular culture, but mysteriously hidden behind the veil of abstraction.
