    Arthur Willmore (1814 Birmingham - 1888 London) after Thomas Allom (1804 London - 1872 Barnes/Surrey): Depiction of the Maison Carrée, a masterpiece of Roman architecture in Nîmes, 19th century, Steel engraving Technique: Steel engraving on Paper Inscription: At the lower part signed in the printing plate: "Drawn by T.Allom | Engraved by A. Willmore.". At the lower part inscribed in the printing plate: "The Maison Carrée Nimes.". Date: 19th century Description: The artwork depicts the Maison Carrée in Nîmes, an excellently preserved example of Roman temple architecture. In the depiction, we encounter people in ancient garb admiring the magnificent façade with its Corinthian columns, creating a link to the architecture of antiquity.
