L. Wilson on underside of all four. Comes with signed letter of description & care from the artist. Size: 5 x 4 x 7 1/4 in. Albert Leon Wilson (1920 - 1999) was active/lived in New York. Albert Wilson is known for Whimsical sculpture, illustration, commercial designer, photography. Albert Leon Wilson was an American sculptor, art director, illustrator and photographer. He spent his early career as a graphic designer for J.C. Penney in New York from 1946 to 1954. By 1956 he had relocated to Rochester, New York, where he worked until 1967 as an art director, illustrator, and photographer, winning over 20 graphic art awards from the Rochester Society of Communicating Artists. He also made sculpture from metal, which he bent, welded, and cut into whimsical figures and animals. He apparently began exhibiting these in crafts fairs and galleries, and designing them for public buildings, in the late 1960s. #2278

        Albert Leon Wilson (American, 1920-1999) Sculpture. Title - Steel I-beam Sculpture. Signed A. L. Wilson with copyright 1968. Measures 18 inches high, wooden base measures 7 inches high, 7 inches wide and weighs 19 pounds. In good condition. From Askart: Albert Leon Wilson (1922-1999) was an American sculptor, art director, illustrator and photographer. He spent his early career as a graphic designer for JCPenney in New York from 1946 to 1954. By 1956 he had relocated to Rochester, New York, where he worked until 1967 as an art director, illustrator, and photographer, winning over 20 graphic art awards from the Rochester Society of Communicating Artists. He also made sculpture from metal, which he bent, welded, and cut into whimsical figures and animals. He apparently began exhibiting these in crafts fairs and galleries, and designing them for public buildings, in the late 1960s. His sculptures are in the collections of the Strasenburgh Planetarium, Rochester; the Roy Neuberger Collection in the New York State Museum, Albany; and were in the private collection of Governor Nelson Rockefeller. His commissioned works include the baptismal font and main altar for Faith Lutheran Church, Webster, NY and for the Municipal Building Courtroom in Fulton, New York.

        Albert Leon Wilson (American, 1920-1999). Title - Reclining Nude Modern Sculptural Table. Steel I-beam, cut welded metal sculpture with glass. Sculpture has a rich bronze patinated finish. Unsigned. Measures 60 inches in length, 30 inches wide and 14.5 inches in height. The heavy steel table weighs 323 pounds including the glass top. Included with the sculpture is the original 1975 invoice from Buyways Gallery in Sarasota, Florida. From Askart: Albert Leon Wilson (1922-1999) was an American sculptor, art director, illustrator and photographer. He spent his early career as a graphic designer for JCPenney in New York from 1946 to 1954. By 1956 he had relocated to Rochester, New York, where he worked until 1967 as an art director, illustrator, and photographer, winning over 20 graphic art awards from the Rochester Society of Communicating Artists.
