      As was the case for the majority of the promotional material for this operetta hitting the boards at Daly's theater, Wilson sticks close to the titular subject matter, presenting a young Japanese woman in traditional garb gazing back at the passerby, a cunningly minimal approach to pique the postential audience member's curiosity. It's a real charmer and the November 1898 edition of The Poster is in complete accord: "Mr. Edgar Wilson's poster for the 'Geisha' [is] fortunately conceived. The Japanese girl with her huge parasol is an excellent piece of work, and the colour-scheme, which includes glowing scarlet, bright yellow, dull green, and red-brown, is a very striking one" (p. 183). "The success of the second revival of The Mikado . . . was responsible in part for the profusion of Asian . . . operettas right through the turn of the century.
