      MIRIAM WINSLOW American, 20th Century Two nudes in an embrace. Signed on base "M. Winslow, '79". Miriam Winslow was the first female dancer at Jacob's Pillow around the late 1920s, and in 1929, she formed the Miriam Winslow School of Dance in Boston. A pivotal figure in introducing modern dance to the public, she also danced with Martha Graham as well as Ted Shawn, traveling the world with his troupe. In the 1940s she moved to South America, where she formed another touring troupe, Ballet Winslow. She returned to the United States in the 1960s and became a sculptor, summering on Cape Cod and wintering in Paris. Provenance: Private Collection, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Bronze, height 16".
