    The description of the Coast of Guinea, Manicongo, and Angola, and so proceeding forwards beyond the Cape de Bona Speranza.... London: Wolfe, [1598]. Copper-engraved map, 384 x 511 mm. Long stub tear repaired on verso with some small losses in sea. Decorative map from the English edition of Jan Huygen van Linschoten's Itinerario. With inset coastal views of Ascension and S. Helena. Depictions of a lion, rhino, and elephant decorate Africa's interior; a central lake bears the legend, "Tritones et Sirenes in hoc lacu sunt."

Backed, repairing a stub tear, some small losses at edges and fold intersections; pale browning, chiefly to left half. From the English edition of van Linschoten's Itinerario, covers most of Africa. Includes the depiction of large central lakes (populated with sea-horses) as the sources of the Nile and other principal rivers in Africa.
