BUNNY YEAGER (1929 -2014). "Lorena Miami 65". 1965. Silver gelatin print on paper. Presents studio label on the back. Measurements: 25,5 x 20 cm. Linnea Eleanor Yeager was born in Pennsylvania, although she moved to Florida when she was 17. She adopted the nickname "Bunny" from Lana Turner's character Bunny Smith in the 1945 film Week-End at the Waldorf. She graduated from Miami Edison High School and later enrolled at Coronet Modeling School and Agency. She won numerous local beauty pageants including, Queen of Miami, Florida Orchid Queen, Miss Trailercoach of Dade County, Miss Army & Air Force, Miss Personality of Miami Beach, Queen of the Sports Carnival and Cheesecake Queen of 1951. Yeager became one of Miami's most photographed models, appearing in over 300 newspapers and magazines. She designed and produced hundreds of bikinis when the two-piece swimsuit was a new fashion item and is credited with its popularity in the United States. Yeager got her start in photography by enrolling in an evening class at a vocational school in 1953. Her career as a professional photographer began when a photograph of Maria Stinger, taken for her first school assignment, was sold to Eye magazine. She became a technically skilled photographer noted, among other things, for her early use of the fill flash technique to lighten dark shadows. Yeager was one of the first photographers to shoot her models outdoors in natural light. He met Bettie Page in 1954 and took most of her photographs that year. During their brief collaboration, she took more than 1,000 photographs of Page. Along with photographer Irving Klaw, Yeager played a role in helping to make Page famous, particularly with her photos in Playboy magazine. Yeager was a very prolific and successful pin-up photographer in the 1950s and 1960s, so much so that her work was described as ubiquitous at the time.

(6.4 x 6.4 cm.) Good condition Often referred to as the "Queen of Pinups", Bettie Page gained a significant profile in the 1950s as a pin-up model, largely due to the photographs taken of her by photographer Bunny Yeager. Known for her jet black hair with trademark bangs, Page is depicted here in a variety of poses and stages of undress on the beach and in tropical locations. Yeager's images of Page helped to define fashion, sexuality and popular culture for decades to come. Executed circa 1955, this group of four gelatin silver prints each measure (approximately) 2 ½ x 2 ½ inches. Two are signed by the photographer verso in pencil. Bettie Page in black hosiery: Yellow adhesive remains recto across entire bottom edge of print, yellow staining verso, otherwise good condition; Bettie Page with driftwood: Horizontal crack in emulsion in black margin at left and hard crescent shape crease at upper right approx. 2 inches long. Otherwise good condition; Bettie Page seated on beach: Overall good condition; Bettie Page with scarf: Still attached to previous paper mount with various inscriptions and Yeager signature verso. Hard creases visible in three places (upper left corner, upper center and bottom left) and a brown stain along upper right extreme edge covering approx. 2 inches but not extending into image. Bunny Yeager (American, 1929-2014) Born Linnea Eleanor Yeager, Bunny Yeager began her career as a pin-up model, at one point the most photographed model in Miami. After retiring from modeling, Yeager began a career as a photographer. She is perhaps best known for her iconic pin-up images of Bettie Page, whom she met in 1954. Yeager's photographs of Page appeared in Playboy Magazine and helped launch both of their careers. In addition, Yeager is also known for her images of Ursula Andress, James Bond and Lisa Winters. The first exhibition of Yeager's work was held in 2010 at The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh. She has been cited as influencing many of today's top contemporary photographers, including Diane Arbus, Cindy Sherman and Yasumasa Morimura.
