      IMPORTANT YEH KUNG-CHAO PAINTING (1904-1981)

      IMPORTANT YEH KUNG-CHAO'S (1904-1981) LARGE CHINESE WATER COLOR PAINTING. This very special painting drew by eight of General Yu friend and relatives to celebrate the General and Madame Yu's Wedding Anniversary. Eight persons were gathered and drew and sealed their signature seals on the paintings, including in the artist were: The Flower springs by Chen Zi and Sung WuBing; The Cranes by Ceng YouXuan, WuDan, and Ciang SouSien; The rock work by Zong ShouRen; The Plum Blossom by Liu TaiXi; and, The LingZhi Mushroom by Yeh Kung-Chao; The eight artists masterpiece presented in harmonic depicted two cranes beneath a pine tree standing within rock work and flower foliage. Showing nine different iron-red signature seals. Dimension: 81-1/4" H x 35" W Painting dimension: 51-1/2" H x 27-1/4" W LOT NOTES George Yeh or Yeh Kung-chao (Chinese,1904?1981) was a diplomat and politician of the Republic of China. He was the first Minister of Foreign Affairs since 1949. During his tenure, he signed the Sino-Japanese Peace Treaty in 1952 and the Sino-American Mutual Defense Treaty in 1954. He was ambassador to the United States from 1958 to 1961. In 1961, due to the admission of Mongolia to the United Nations, Yeh was removed from the position of ambassador and recalled to Taiwan by Chiang Kai-Shek. He then served as Minister without Portfolio.[1]
