Illustration: 172 x 220 mm. Rouleau: 1797 x 338 mm. Embouts en bois noir, dans son Kiwamebako (boîte d'origine) dont le couvercle porte des inscriptions au recto et au verso. Une extrémité de la boîte brisée et un arrêt manquant.

          A Japanese folding fan in the original box. Meiji period. Possibly by Shibata Zeshin (1807-1891), incorporated with Haibara Naojiro (c.1847-1908) from the Haibara handmade paper workshop. Golden fan face with watercolor painting depicting flowers on one side and landscape scene on reverse. Bamboo and lacquer decorated bone fan bones. Signed in lacquer at the inner side of the fan bone: "made by Haibara". Fan: 8 3/8"l x 15"w. Box: 1 3/4"h x 10 1/4"l x 3 1/4"d. Provenance: From the Private Collection of Ernest Fenollosa. Condition: Missing the original tassel.
