Clinton Mill 3D Art by Abner Zook

        Est: -

The mill depicted here is in Clinton, NJ. This scene was commissioned in 1999 by a local resident, Ray Hernandez. The water wheel is "functional"- water moves down over the wheel. Pump and water tank are housed inside the picture - the bridge lifts off. On the right side of the picture is an on/off switch. A beautifully done piece, with incredible detail. Well balanced, with a clear focal point and composition. The lighting and contrast create a flawless flow through the design, while the textures within help to catch the eye. A truly masterful work of art! Signed in the lower, right corner. Condition: No flaws found. Dimensions: 80" x 48" x 10". The previous owner had the item listed for sale on eBay for $79,999. Various pamphlets and photos included with the sale. Mill history: The Clinton Mill is also called "The Red Mill". The mill was operational from 1810 to 1928. It still stands today and is the hub of "The Red Mill Museum Village" that holds festivals, weddings, etc.

Cider Making 3D Painting by Abner Zook

        Est: -

Fall is in the air! Wonderfully exhibited through extremely fine detail in this show of Abner Zooks unending talent. By the creek, a young boy waves at a man driving a single-horse-drawn wagon delivering apples to the Stoltzfus Cider Press. Adjacent to the press, nestled in the trees and shadows is "Big Bag Flour Mill Stream". A bag of flour is being loaded on a wagon, sent down from the top floor. Encircled by Amish farms, a schoolhouse, and the rolling hills of Lancaster County. The left side has a brighter, lighter color palette and that is where we see a brick home and the bucolic landscape in the background. This piece is rich in intricate details, offering a diverse range of textures. The creek's flow and the grass's movement, depicted through brush strokes, convey a dynamic sense of motion. Each stone is meticulously crafted in three dimensions, showcasing remarkable dedication and skill. The warm palette unifies the artwork, allowing for a seamless viewing experience from one end to the other. Another exquisite example of three-dimensional artistry. Signed and dated (1979) at the bottom, right corner. Condition: Two cracks forming between the Cider Press and the bridge. Dimensions: 58.25" x 35" x 9".

"Plowing the Fields" 3D Painting by Abner Zook

        Est: -

In this particular painting, an Amish farmer is depicted cutting his plow, pulled by two horses, across the field in front of his house and barn on a lovely spring day. In the background, a mare and foal graze in the shared pasture with a solitary cow. This pasture leads to a weathered gray barn nestled behind two large trees standing tall in the front yard of a two-story red house. The front porch steps, flanked by bushes, guide you to the circular driveway, passing a towering tree at its center, towards the phone shanty located between a slim tree and a weathered gray tool shed. On the far left of the painting, a weeping willow tree grows in the pasture, partially concealing a corn crib in the distant background. While the background mainly showcases the sky, the middle and foreground bring the painting to life. Each blade of grass, every animal, building, and bit of foliage stands out vividly. The vibrant colors and sharp contrasts enhance this effect, accentuating every detail. In conclusion, this well-rounded piece would make a stunning addition to any home. Signed and dated (1977) at the bottom, right corner. Condition: Painting is in good shape, but the wooden frame has a small blemish on the lower, right, outside edge. Dimensions: 48.75" x 31" x 9".

"Courting Picnic" 3D Painting by Abner Zook

        Est: -

Downstream from the water wheel, next to the creek behind the barn, a young Amish couple enjoys a picnic lunch. This artwork is exceptionally detailed, with brushstrokes and linework that bring out texture and flow. Cool colors dominate, accented by warm hues that draw the eye. The well-executed contrast in the painting highlights the intricate details. It's a beautifully balanced piece with a straightforward focal point. The history provided by the Consignor: Abner made this painting for his wife, Emma. It depicts a scene from their courtship when they spent time by the stream in their younger years of life. Abner resisted selling this piece for years until a customer entered his shop and made an offer that he could not refuse. Our Consignor later purchased the painting for his collection and loaned it to Abner and Emma to hang in their home for the remainder of their lives. After their passing it was returned. Signed and dated (1975) at the bottom, right corner. Condition: Clean piece. Dimensions: 30" x 22.5" x 5".

Painting of Girl on Canvas Folk Art

        Est: -

A beautifully crafted portrait capturing a young Victorian girl picking flowers. Presented in a well-balanced manner. Despite its age, the vibrant colors still shine through, enhanced by a gentle sepia tone that adds character. The child "pops" with her blue dress and pink shoes and jewelry. Wooden frame has a decorative, faux finish. According to the consignor, this painting was created in the 1950's or 1960's and once hung in Princeton University's theater. Painting is not signed but includes photos of Abner Zook, with his wife, Emma in their home posed with the artwork. We attribute this work to Abner based on a conversation the consignor once had with the artist, however the family believes Abner may have been mistaken in claiming this piece. This particular painting has been off the market and in a private collection since last purchased in 2003. Condition: Some wear to the paint around the edges from the wooden frame on which the canvas is stretched. Dimensions: 43.75" x 32.5" x 1.75".

"Putting Hay in the Barn" 3D Art by Abner Zook

        Est: -

Abner Zook has created another remarkable piece! One that was actually purchased by the consignor from Abner himself, making it one of his last pieces to be complete! This painting exudes a golden hue, evoking the essence of a scorching summer day. The artwork portrays an Amish family laboring in the fields, it's a family affair! Using a 4-horse drawn wagon to transport hay, three men ride on the wagon, while one steers. A young boy and man call their dog, a group of four family members take a break nearby, and another young boy assists a man in the barn by hoisting hay into the loft using a pulley system with a horse. The texture in the buildings, trees, and grass is richly detailed. The painting skillfully contrasts highlights and shadows, achieving a well-balanced composition with seamless movement that guides the viewer's gaze across the scene. The large stone house is in the center background and has a peaceful presence. Except for the background, everything appears three-dimensional. The Amish community's renowned work ethic is beautifully captured in this artwork. Signed and dated (1999) at the bottom, right corner. Condition: Some small cracks in the yellowish-brown ground. Dimensions: 52" x 25.5" x 7.5".
