Biography

Paris auction house Artcurial organizes more than one-hundred auctions per year and specializes in twenty different collecting categories. Its auctions are open to the public and take place at the Hotel Marcel Dassault, where a 2,000-square-meter space is dedicated to Artcurial’s exhibitions and services (including its gallery, bookstore, and restaurant). Artcurial also opened its virtual gallery in 2000.

Many of Artcurial’s auctions are conducted to benefit of charities. In 2010, the auction house boasted more than €1 million ($1,066,690) awarded in favor of philanthropic associations. In addition, Artcurial sponsors and organizes the Prix Marcel Duchamp and the Drawing Prize of the Daniel & Florence Guerlain Contemporary Art Foundation.

Catalogues put in place by Artcurial specialists are made available four weeks before an auction takes place. House specialists welcome sellers by appointment prior to the auction or during “expertise days.” As part of its services, the company also has a library of over 18,000 books on 20th-century contemporary art.

Artcurial’s offices are located in various cities around France, including Bordeaux, Deauville, Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier, and Toulouse. Beyond its home country of France, it has offices in Germany, Austria, Belgium, China, Italy, Israel, and Monaco.
