Biography

Burgersdijk & Niermans, Auctioneers of Books, Prints and Manuscripts.

We are Leiden based, housed on the corner facing Saint Peter’s church in the old city centre. On this same spot the famous 14th-century jurist and book collector Philips van Leyden once had a magnificent library, which was appropriately called the ‘Templum Salomonis’. When Pieter Burgersdijk & George Niermans established their business here as an off-spring of the renowned publishing house E.J. Brill in 1894, they revived this name, which has adorned the façade since.

We organize two auctions a year, in May and November. Each sale catalogue offers books on a wide range of subjects, varying from rare old printed editions, manuscripts and prints, to modern (scholarly) literature.
