Biography

Chorley’s was founded in 2006 by Simon Chorley and the Fine Art department from Bruton Knowles, Gloucestershire’s leading firm of auctioneers, surveyors and property consultants. John Harvey, recently of Sotheby’s West Country office joined Chorley’s team in 2009. The firm has a huge amount of experience and expertise and is determined to maintain the traditions of integrity, honesty and professionalism much valued by its private clients and by professional referrers from the art, legal, insurance, property asset and banking professions.

With the opening of a second saleroom at Prinknash in the summer of 2010, Chorley’s are now able to display antique furniture and pictures within room settings, attracting more interior designers and private clients. This area doubles up as a light and spacious gallery for prestigious exhibitions, the most recent of which was ‘Treasures of Gloucestershire’ held in conjunction with Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum and The Honourable Company of Gloucestershire. The former Prinknash Pottery space has recently provided a third saleroom for Chorley’s – over 15,000ft in area, this has proved an ideal location for Chorley’s Vintage and Classic car and motorcycle auctions.

The beautiful 40-acre monastic estate of Prinknash Abbey Park, situated between Cheltenham, Gloucester and Stroud and within 4 miles of the motorway network, offers ample free parking, a restaurant open seven days a week, play areas for children and a bird park, so a visit to the saleroom offers a pleasant day out for all.
