Smith & Singer, formerly Sotheby’s Australia, is the market-leading auction house for the sale of important Australian and international art and jewels in Australia. First established as Sotheby’s Australia in 1983, the company regularly conducts specialty auctions in Fine Art and Jewellery and caters to an unrivalled cosmopolitan clientele.

Smith & Singer consistently sets international records and conducts individual auctions that garner millions for the superlative collections offered. Recent notable sales in Fine Art include Fred Williams' Mountain Creek, Mount Kosciusko (1976) for $1,708,000 (over $500,000 above its high estimate), Howard Arkley's Neapolitan Delight 1993, which realised $1,464,000 ¬ (against a high estimate of $1,000,000), and William Dobell's The Dead Landlord (1936), which set a record for the artist when it achieved $1,220,000. Strong recent results for Jewellery include an 11.90 carat round brilliant-cut diamond and platinum ring selling for $329,400, a 15.27 carat, brilliant-cut diamond ring achieving $176,900 and an 18ct gold and diamond 'Grande Marguerite' brooch by Van Cleef & Arpels, circa 1960 selling for $122,000.
