Biography

Among French auction houses the Tajan is one of the elite, with exquisite artworks, record sale prices, and international prestige. The Tajan was purchased in 2003 by Rodica Seward, an American art collector and businesswoman. Since that time, the Tajan has conducted numerous high profile auctions, including a Jean-Michel Basquiat self-portrait that sold for $1,804,529 in November of 2013.

The Tajan hosts more than 60 live auctions annually (about one sale a week) to local and international buyers on-site and online. In addition to the 60 live auctions conducted through Invaluable.com in 2014, Tajan has offered nearly 1,000 live auctions in the last ten years. The Tajan strives for excellence in dealing with sellers and buyers around the world, providing highly personalized service to both parties.

Collections and lots in auction typically include furniture, jewelry, and decorative arts from the 17th to 20th centuries. The Tajan is most known for specializing in the organized sale of Asian Art, Contemporary Art, fine wines, and Watches.

In order to maintain a strong international influence and presence, Tajan Chairman of the Board, Rodica Seward, frequents both the United States and Europe to establish connections with potential buyers and sellers. This international involvement enables Tajan to offer valuable and unique finds from around the world. Among the international buyers, 57 different nations have represented in past years.
