Lot 406: 1st Or The King's Dragoon Guards Helmet

A fine and rare Officers' 1843 pattern gilt brass helmet. The Roman pattern skull complete with high gilt comb, this embossed with profuse scrolling foliage. The multi-rayed frontal plate mounted with the post 1837 Royal Arms and honour scroll "Waterloo". Title band reads 1st or The King's Dragoon Guards. Original chin-chain rosettes but no chin-chain. Helmet sweatband and lining mostly present but loose, original horse hair crest present, very few minor dents and surface cracks, back peak slightly misshapen and creased. The front peak trim part missing and the peak with buckling overall. Some gilt loss to the skull and front peak. A fine original example.
