A.B. HOUGHTON ANTIQUE WATERCOLOR - VIRGIN MARY Arthur Boyd Houghton (1836-1875). A.B. Houghton was one of the most important illustrators and artists of the 1860's. Working sometimes in a pre-Raphaelite manner and always with a sense of the dramatic impact that could be acheived with black and white. His most important book illustrations were found in the books "The Arabian Nights" and "Don Quixote". This work is done in the pre-Raphaelite manner that was so highly praised.
