Paris, beg. of 20th cent. Bronze with gold brown patina, h. 31 cm, sign. 'G. Michel', foundary mark of Susse Freres, Paris, entitled 'La Pensée'. - For the 1896 exhibited sculpture 'La Pensée' Michel was awarded with a Medaille d'Honneur at the Salon. - French sculptor, according to Marina Warner "one of the most famous sculptors of the first decades of this (twentieth) century in France," although virtually unknown today.
