After Edmund Cotterell The naturalistic ground inscribed PUBLISHED AS THE ACT DIRECTS BY R & S GARRARD, PANTON ST. LONDON, 18TH JUNE 1837 AND COTTERELL SCULPT., on a stepped bronze plinth with brass mounted inscription Arthur, Duke of Wellington 25in. (63.5cm.) high, 16in. (40.6cm.) wide NOTES Edmund Cotterell (1795-1860) was in charge of Garrards design from 1833 and helped establish their reputation for producing elaborate sculptural groups and centrepieces in bronze and silver, with Equestrian, Moorish or Arab themes. He attended the Royal Academy Schools in 1820 and exhibited at the Academy, 1822-1858; at the British Institution, 1832-1855; and at the Suffolk Street Galleries in 1829-1836.
