A DUTCH SILVER CRUET STAND, WIJNAND WARNEKE, AMSTERDAM, 1771 openwork holders cast with flower heads, foliage and birds, foliate supports, two later cut-glass bottles, fully marked below (5) height overall 23.7 cm., weight 629 gr.

Notes

This cruet stand by Wijnand Warneke is illustrated in the exhibition catalogue, Meesterwerken in Zilver, Lochem, 1984, p. 124, no 131. However, the mentioned cruet stand is that of Jan van 't Hofken, Amsterdam, 1747, which is lot 89 of this sale. The cruet stand is correctly illustrated in, J. Verbeek, Nederlands zilver, 1725-1780, Lochem, 1988, p. 75, plate 92.
