Description

Mark of Willem Pont, Amsterdam, 1769, also struck with later Dutch duty mark of 1795 for Amsterdam Spirally fluted, cast and chased with rococo wave ornament and with plain moulded bow, the baluster handle and finial similarly cast, marked on underside of bow 14 cm. (51/4 in.) high 328 gr. (10 oz.) PROVENANCE A gift from Premsela & Hamburger, Amsterdam, 1963 to Dreesmann. Dr Anton C.R. Dreesmann (inventory no. G-38). NOTES For an almost identical table bell by Willem Pont's father Jan Diederik Pont of 1765 see J.W. Frederiks, Dutch Silver, vol. II, The Hague, 1958, no. 275, p. 95, pl. 99.
