Description

A FABERGÉ DIAMOND AND PLATINUM BROOCH, WORKMASTER AUGUST HOLMSTRÖM, ST.PETERSBURG, 1896 in the form of an Imperial crown, struck with workmaster's initials, scratched inventory number 27149 3.5 by 3.3cm, 1 3/8 by 1 1/4 in.

Notes

Such brooches were presented to all the Russian Grand Duchesses at the coronation. August Holmström was commissioned to make eighteen brooches partly using the diamonds from the stock of the Cabinet of His Imperial Majesty. They were delivered to the cabinet on 25th May 1896.
A similar brooch given to Grand Duchess Anastasia Mikhailovna, wife of Grand Duke Friedrich Franz III of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, is now in the possession of H.H. Princess Elizabeth of Denmark.
