A FAMILLE-VERTE, IRON-RED AND GILT YENYEN VASE,
FENGWEIZUN

Kangxi

Of baluster form with trumpet neck, painted with large black-outlined
ruyi-shaped floral lappets to the upper body and shoulder of the baluster form and also to the flaring neck, and with iron-red dragon medallions to the body and phoenix to the neck, each surrounded by stylized scroll work and pendant tasseled jewelry, all supported on an unglazed foot ring with flat, white-glazed base.


18in (45.7cm) high

Fairly extensive over-painting to the neck interior and two wide areas at the exterior of neck. Therefore, hard to be certain of the extend of the damage but under a black light at least a large crescent shaped two-piece chip (6in) has been re-stuck and there appears to be an overpainted crack from the rim of about the same length. Also a short hairline (approx. 3in) to the neck. The lower body with a lightly stained craquelure. A typed label marked 'Morris exam 12 18 67.' is adhered to the neck interior along with other numbered labels to the base.
