London, circa 1770, workshop of James Cox The rectangular casket raised on four rocaille feet, the truncated pyramidal top applied with five rocaille-clad urns, the striated mauve agate panels mounted in a gold cagework chased with floral swags and scrolls, the front panel also decorated with a bird and a dog, opening to a drawer containing a French gold and enamelled thimble, four glass scent-bottles with gold caps, a magnifying glass, scissors, an ivory tablet, a pencil, a folding knife, a small mirror, a key, two small spoons, and a matching agate lunette de jalousie, apparently unmarked The casket 6in.
