Lot 36: A FRAMED TELEGRAM CONFIRMING CESSATION OF WAR IN THE FALKLANDS, and provenance / letters from Mne Needham and 'Up the Falklands' cartoon booklet. An original Falkland's surrender telex received whilst on operational duty on board the Canberra in San Carlos Bay by Royal Marine Jonathan Needham. Framed with an original mixed media by Andrew Wing, 'Tabbing with Penguins', signed and dated 2017, 13.6cm x 21.7cm. With a narrative window to the bottom of the mount. The framed picture and telex is accompanied by an account of provenance by Marine J. Needham of how the telex came into his possession whilst on operational duty on board SS Canberra at anchor in San Carlos Bay in the Falkland Islands. Also included is a copy of a letter from Major General A.M. Keeling CB, CBE, of the SBS Association, to the artist Andrew Wing thanking him for his donation. Together with a letter from the Imperial War Museum and a glossary of abbreviations of recipients of the telex. Andrew Wing has been a life-long friend of Marine Needham, who is now serving with the Hampshire Constabulary, and is a working artist based in Gosport. There is also a copy of the cartoon booklet 'Up the Falklands', published by Blandford.
