Notes

Called a 'deception' table because of its hinged fall 'drawer', this fine table of beautiful timber exhibits characteristics of the documented work of the London firm of Mayhew and Ince. These include the roundel above a fluted panel, the tapering husk pendant in a channeled leg and the cuffed leg with roundel-carved square block above the foot. A very similar table sold Christie's, London, Property of a Lady of Title, February 25, 1982, lot 54.
