Style of Ogata Korin (1658-1716), Edo period, late 18th/early 19th centuryThe writing box with overhanging lid of shaped square form, decorated to the exterior in gold lacquer with blades of grass and willowy flowers in front of a rising full moon against a deep black ground, the interior of the lid with a hare against a red and gold ground, signed Seisei Korin; the interior of the box with fitted ink stone and white metal water dropper.22.2cm (8 3/4in) x 19.5cm (7 5/8in) (2).
