A LARGE CHINESE EXPORT PORCELAIN FAMILLE-ROSE CIRCULAR COVERED BOWL

Early Qianlong

Finely enameled to each side of the deeply rounded bowl with groups of vessels, auspicious fruits, and objects, one grouped flanked by large peony branches and prunus blossoms, the other group with chrysanthemums and cherry blossoms with a band of gilt lotus scrolling at the rim, the decoration mirrored on the domed cover the bowl and cover interior further decorated with flower sprays.


11 5/8in (29.5cm) diam

The bowl with iron-spots to the interior. The cover with a hairline (approx. 2 1/2 in) and three later cold-enameled branch sprays painted to the interior rim, presumably to hide the hairline. Small air bubble pinpricks to the surface but unobtrusive.
