Lot 456: A large Minton earthenware wall plate or table top

A large Minton earthenware wall plate or table top circa 1858-9 painted by Emile Lessore, signed, (restoration to the rim), painted Minton mark on the front, puce printed crown and circle factory mark on the back. diameter 23in. (58.4cm.) Emile Lessore (1805-1876) was trained at Sevres and worked briefly at Minton circa 1858, before joining Wedgwood in 1859.
