A LOUIS-PHILIPPE PARCEL-GILT SILVER AND ENAMEL CASKET, JEAN-VALENTIN MOREL ET CIE, PARIS,, CIRCA 1845 in Renaissance style on four winged lioness feet, the sides formed as an arcade with grotesque panels, enclosing white-silver relief figures of children representing Hunting, Wine-making, Farming, and Fishing, against arabesques of blue champlevé enamel, repeated on the cover below a group of a mother with two children, metal base panel marked on base rim of each side with maker's mark MV compass between, MOREL & CIE, and standard mark length 8in. 20.3cm
