The group after a model by François Théodore Devaulx (French, 1808-1870), emblematic of the arts, modeled as a teacher and her three pupils, sculpting, painting and writing, the base overall cast with foliate scroll and flowerhead ornament, centered by the white enamel dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, inscribed Raingo Fres a Paris, the twin train movement with outside count wheel, the backplate with Raingo Frères pastille and numbered 1780, on scroll feet, each section stamped 1780, the base stamped H. PICARD.
