Description

Circa 1820 Each of baluster form, the neck cut with stepped concentric bands, the shoulder with hobnails, the body with strawberry pattern, the upright gilt-bronze handles issuing from bacchic masks and terminating at the rim in a roundel inset on each side with a smiling mask 18 3/4in. (47.6cm.) high (2) NOTES The present model, made of 'Russian Stone', is likely based on a design by I.A. Ivanov, director of the imperial glass works in St Petersburg from 1815-1848. Another example is in the collection of the Hermitage. Cf.
