The bodies of these sauceboats are identical to a set of four with dragon handles by the same maker sold in these rooms on 17 November 1988, lot 176. The form derives from an 18th Century precursor sold Sotheby's, London, 20 March 1972, lot 149 bearing the marks Charles Kandler, London, 1742.
