Engraved by Simon Francis Ravenet after a design by James Gwin, printed in puce and lightly overpainted in colours with the sensual figure of the sleeping Venus, Cupid to one side pulling back the background drapery, titled 'BURGUNDY', 7.3cm wide (fine cracks, minute rim chips)

A similar ticket was sold in these rooms 8 June 2005, lot 74 and another is illustrated by Egan Mew, Battersea Enamels (1926), fig 21. A ticket with the same print but titled 'MADEIRA' was in the Mullens collection. The same design was also used for BURGOYNE, MULSEAU and W WINE
