(5) NOTES Born in Kyoto the son of a rich merchant, Okuda Eisen opened a kiln in Awata where he specialised in enamel-decorated wares as well as imitations of ko-sometsuke [early blue and white] and Kochi wares. His pupils included such celebrated late-Edo potters as Aoki Mokubei and Nin'ami Dohachi.
