A single-cut bamboo flower vase (Take ichijugiri hanaire) named Okina (Old man)
Edo period (17th century), inscribed on the back in gold lacquer Soho (Kobori Enshu; 1579-1647)
Of polished bamboo with prominent mottled grain, with a cut-out section near the top and a suspension hole on the reverse below the rim, old splits repaired with gold lacquer and three large metal staples, the name Okina in gold lacquer on the back
11 7/8in. (30.2cm.) high
With inner red dry-lacquered insert titled Okina, signed Hakusui'an (Yoshimura Kan'a; 1765-1848) and with kao (cursive monogram) in black lacquer (2)
