A VICTORIAN MARBLE BUST OF A GIRL BY GEORGE FREDERICK HALSE (1826-1895), DATED 1874 Inscribed to the reverse 'G. HALSE Sc. 1874' on waisted socle 22 ½ in. (57 cm.) high The bust is probably The May Queen, exhibited at Royal Manchester Institution, Exhibition of the Works of Modern Artists, 1874. See Halse's recorded works in Mapping the Practice and Profession of Sculpture in Britain & Ireland, 1851-1951.
