NICHOLAS HILLIARD (BRITISH, 1547-1619) A young lady called Lady Arabella Stuart (1575-1615), in grey-embroidered lace dress with high-standing white lace collar, gold and drop-pearl pendant fastened at corsage, gold and pearl necklace, drop-pearl and gold earring adorned with black ribbon, gold and drop-pearl pendants and gauze scarf in her upswept and dressed fair hair; on blue ground within gold border on vellum oval, 2 1/8 in. (54 mm.) high, gilt-metal frame with spiral cresting, the glazed reverse with ink drawing of various shapes within borders
