Abdrücke in Helldunkel, nach verschieden Meister Zeichnungen... Comprises 29 sheets with 53 engraved plates, primarily mezzotints, including the title. 15 1/4 x10 1/2, period half-calf, spine gilt in compartments, morocco lettering-piece. Fine suite of mezzotints after various old master drawings. Carl Friedrich Holtzmann (1740-1811) was a student of C.W.E. Dietrich and a masterful printer of aqua- and mezzotints. The title of this collection translates as Impressions in Chiaroscuro. Rare.
