Notes

Since there is no Reberdade settlement known, the title of the painting was probably erroneously noted on the exhibition label. The landscape was possibly painted near Jerusalem, where Abraham Neumann taught at the art academy in 1926 - 1927. In 1931 it was exhibited at the Palestinian Pavilion in Paris. Participation of Palestine at the colonial art exhibition was controversial, so it was presented as a unique colony of The League of Nations. Abraham Neumann is said to be the first Jewish painter from Poland to set foot in Palestine, in 1904, directly after his studies in Paris. Just like his works, he travelled all over the world, before returning to Poland where he died in the Krakow Ghetto in 1942.
